ELKHART – A Mishawaka man suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash south of Elkhart Wednesday morning.

21-year-old Chaz Hufkens was flown to Memorial Hospital in South Bend.

Elkhart County police say Hufkens’ car was eastbound on County Road 28 and failed to yield at State Road 19. As he entered the intersection he was struck a southbound car driven by 28-year-old Kenneth Tubicsak of Nappanee.

The Hufkens vehicle went off the southeast side of the road and struck a house.

Tubicsak was taken to Elkhart General with back pain.

The crash happened just before 5:30 a-m.
