STURGIS – The Christmas season is underway in the City of Sturgis.

Several different events are planned in the downtown area. It actually started Thursday with the second annual Wiesloch Kristkindlmarkt happening on Pleasant Street. Sturgis Downtown Development Authority Director Ryan Conrod says this year there are wooden structures decorated with lights and garland. People will be selling more Christmas crafts and items along with baked goods. At the DDA tent, they will have hot cocoa for sale along with souvenier mugs for $5.

The Kristkindlmarkt runs from 4 until 9 PM tonight and on Saturday from 4 until 8 PM.

Tonight will be the annual Sip & Stroll. Downtown businesses will be open from 5:30 until 9 PM, offering snacks and shopping discounts for visitors. Conrod says the community will have the chance to win some prizes. If they come to the DDA tent, they can get one of two punch cards. They must take the card to the participating businesses, get it stamped and then return it to the DDA tent by 8:30 PM to be entered into a chance to win prizes donated by area businesses.

Saturday night is the annual Christmas In The City in Free Church Park from 4 until 7 PM
