Launch LaGrange seeks to retain talented youth
By: Tim Murray - Saturday, November 2, 2019

LAGRANGE – The goal of Launch LaGrange is to retain talented youth in LaGrange County.

Students can win money to start their own business or use towards college tuition.

In late January students at Lakeland, Prairie Heights and Westview will present their business plans to judges and the general public at each school.

The top three ideas advance to the county-wide Launch LaGrange event in February at Lakeland Jr/Sr High School. A panel of investors, entrepreneurs and community leaders will hear the presentations.

The winner gets $5,000 to invest in their business or college. Second prize is $2,500 and third prize is $1,000.

Trine, St. Francis, Goshen College, Ivy Tech, Indiana Tech and Purdue Fort Wayne will all have scholarships to offer the top three finishers.

The LaGrange County Economic Development Corporation is looking for companies, community leaders and residents to consider sponsoring the program, a scholarship or a mentorship. Contact Sherrie Johnston at 499-4994 for information.
