FORT WAYNE – A Topeka man has died from injuries he suffered Sunday morning in an Elkhart County crash.

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office says 95-year-old Joseph Ryder of Topeka died around 11:30 p-m Tuesday at Parkview Regional Medical Center.

Ryder was taken there with injuries to his chest and neck following the crash at State Road 13 and County Road 36. They say he was driving a Toyota Highlander eastbound on 36 and failed to stop at the intersection.

He drove into the path of a northbound minivan driven by 66-year-old William Yoder of Millersburg. Both vehicles went off the northeast corner of the intersection. Ryder’s Toyota overturned and collided with a fence. Yoder’s struck a fence and a utility pole.

Yoder suffered neck pain following the crash.
