WESTFIELD – Abbott Laboratories will build a $37.6 million dollar facility in Westfield, Indiana to manufacture its MitraClip transcatheter mitral valve repair system.

The move will create about 450 new jobs in the Hamilton County community.

The MitraClip is used to repair mitral regurgitation in the heart without open heart surgery.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. is offering Abbott up to $3.5 million in conditional tax credits and up to $1 million in training grants based on the company’s job creation plans.

The IEDC also offered Westfield up to $750,000 from the Industrial Development Grant Fund to support infrastructure improvements to the new site.
