Arrest made in death of Coldwater infant

COLDWATER – Coldwater Police made an arrest in the death of a five month old Coldwater infant.

Director Of Public Safety Joe Scheid says on Wednesday, a three count felony arrest warrant was issued for Coleman Ray Royer. Police arrested Royer Thursday on charges of homicide felony murder; first degree child abuse and second degree child abuse.

Back in February Coldwater Police received information that a five month old Coldwater infant was at the University of Michigan Mott Children's Hospital being treated for life threatening injuries. The infant was originanlly taken to ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital and then transferred to Parkview in Fort Wayne before being taken to Ann Arbor.

The child died the next day from traumatic injuries.

The arrest warrant was issued by the Branch County Prosecutor's Office after police reviewed medical records and conducted interviews.
