LANSING – September jobless rates were down slightly across Southwest Michigan.

St. Joseph County's September jobless rate was 3.7 percent, down from 4.5 percent in August. That September figure is still a half a percentage point higher than September 2018.

Branch County fell from 4 percent in August to 3.6 percent. Cass County went from 4.5 percent to 3.9 percent while Hillsdale County saw a decrease from 4.3 percent to 3.7 percent.

Statewide, the September jobless rate went from 4.2 percent in August to 3.7 percent in September.
