LAGRANGE – A capacity crowd sampled cuisine from LaGrange County restaurants and supported the LaGrange Community Youth Center through their donations and auction purchases Saturday evening.

Lakeland High School student Axel urged the crowd to make it happen.

"This center would have a wide range of different activities. It also benefits our younger generation with academics. The center would provide rooms where they could get help with their education. And also for young adults looking for employment."

Kaleigh, another Lakeland student, said a community center would benefit persons of all ages.

"When I don't have work after school I have nothing to do. There's not really anywhere to go and hang out with other people and other students. And I think this would be a great place to make new friends."

The fundraiser supports programs of LCYC for youth. They are seeking a contribution of $3 million dollars in Major Moves funds to jump start the campaign for the $8 million dollar project.
