ELKHART – A four-vehicle pileup west of Elkhart sent four people to hospitals Saturday afternoon.

It happened at 2:!3 p-m on Ash Road north of County Road 16.

Deputies say a car driven by 23-year-old Damian Crawford of South Bend went left of center and struck and SUV driven by 17-year-old Connor Comacho of Goshen.

A second SUV driven by 88-year-old John Fronke of Elkhart then hit Comacho’s vehicle.

Crawford continued on striking a third SUV before fleeing the scene. Police located Crawford a short time later and took him to Elkhart General suffering from chest and neck pain.

Comacho was treated at Elkhart General for neck pain.

Fronke was taken to Memorial Hospital with facial cuts and neck pain.
