Three Rivers man shot to death following pursuit from Bristol

BRISTOL – A pursuit that started in Bristol ended in St. Joseph County, Michigan with the suspect driver being shot to death by police.

A news release from Bristol Police says the driver fled Bristol just after 12:30 a-m. The chase went into Michigan and came to an end near Barker and Vistula Roads.

An unidentified officer opened fire after the suspect vehicle crashed into a police squad car.

The suspect – identified as 46 year old David Sanders of Three Rivers – was struck by the gunfire and was pronounced dead after officers rendered first aid.

The officer had minor injuries from the crash. He is on administrative leave under department protocol.

The Michigan State Police are handling the investigation into the shooting.
