By: Tim Murray - Tuesday, October 15, 2019

LANSING – There’s been another death caused by Eastern Equine Encephalitis.

This time it was in nearby Cass County, Michigan.

The age and location of the victim were not released.

It follows news over the weekend that an Elkhart County resident died from EEE….Indiana’s first fatality.

The Cass County death was the fifth in Michigan out of a total of ten human cases.

Michigan health officials say another case in a horse is reported in Allegan County.

Dr. Joneigh Khaldun, chief medical executive and chief deputy for health for MDHHS says “The risk of EEE continues if there has not been a sustained period of freezing temperatures. We urge residents to continue taking precautions against mosquito bites.”
