Man killed, woman and four children hurt in US 6 crash

SYRACUSE – A nearly head-on collision on U-S 6 in Elkhart County left one man dead and a woman and four children injured Wednesday afternoon.

Police say a 22-year-old man driving a Chevy Monte Carlo eastbound on U_S 6 crossed the centerline and struck the westbound Ford Flex driven by 24-year-old Rosalia Hernandez of Goshen.

The man was killed and his name was not released. Hernandez was flown to Parkview Regional with injuries to her lower body.

Four children, ages 1 to 7, were also taken to Parkview. One suffered a broken thigh bone.

The crash happened just east of US 33 at 3:42 p-m.
