BRONSON – In keeping with the practice of regular, routine water main cleaning, the City of Bronson will be flushing fire hydrants.
City Manager Brandon Mersman says the flushing will begin at 12:01 AM on Friday, September 20 for the Northern section of the City, which is everything north of U.S. 12. Then on Saturday, September 21 at 12:01 AM, the Southern section of the City, which is everything south of U.S. 12 will be flushed.
Mersman says the City apologizes for any inconveniences the flushing may cause. On occasion, the water in the areas of flushing my temporarily have a reddish-orange rusty appearance, as flushing can disturb iron sediment in the water pipes and cause discoloration.
If this occurs, please run your cold water at the tap closest to your water meter for several minutes to clear the lines.
Mersman says the City is also advising the public to refrain from doing laundry during the two days the flushing will be taking place.
