LAGRANGE – LaGrange County Council approved tax abatement for two companies that have already expanded.

The requests languished as the LaGrange County Economic Development Corporation experienced turnover in its leadership.

Lund Corporation received abatement on an expansion and equipment purchase. EDC President Bill Bradley made the presentation. He said covers over $1.2 million in real estate improvements for 45,000 sq. ft. addition and $433,000 in personal property for equipment. The company will realize a savings of around $70,000 on taxes.

The company hopes to add 63 new jobs and retain 105 jobs.

The second abatement went to A-J Furniture on County Road 400 South near Topeka.

It covers a 12,000 sq.ft. addition for an investment of $725,000 in real estate and $562,000 in personal property. The company will save about $51,000 on taxes and add one fulltime and two part time positions while retaining 19 jobs.
